Jon Hopper
Chief Executive Officer
Jon Hopper became President and Chief Executive Officer of Xtera in February 2004.
Prior to Xtera, Jon spent 15 years as the Chief Executive of several capital equipment companies. Those companies include Dynamotion Corp. (merged with ESI, NASDAQ ESIO) and IRSI (merged with Photon Dynamics, NASDAQ PHTN). Jon has also held senior management positions at Photon Dynamics and ESI. Jon has a very successful track record taking pre-revenue companies with innovative products and building them into global commercial enterprises capable of supporting multi-national customers.
Herve Fevrier
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Herve Fevrier has been with Xtera Communications since 2000. Herve serves as the COO of the company. Prior to this assignment, he was in charge of Photonics Development and then Marketing, Business Development and Sales. He provides both the strategic and tactical leadership that leads to the acquisition of new customers, development of new products and partnerships with vendors and developers of complementary technologies.
Prior to Xtera, Herve spent more than 17 years with Alcatel in a wide variety of responsibilities including Director of the Photonic Networks research unit, Sr Director for DWDM Product Development Worldwide, VP & GM Optical Networks Alcatel USA and VP Network and Product Strategy Alcatel Optics.
Dr Fevrier received his doctoral degree in Physics from the University of Paris and he holds a Physics engineering degree from the Ecole Centrale de Paris.
Paul Colan
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Paul Colan was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Xtera Communications in February 2004. He provides financial leadership for Xtera’s domestic and international operations. Paul’s financial operations philosophy is influenced by the knowledge and experience he acquired while working in the capital equipment industry and servicing an international client base.
Paul has served as the Vice President Finance for Extreme Devices, a diamond semiconductor start-up company and Intelligent Reasoning Systems, an automated optical inspection equipment provider who later merged with Photon Dynamics (NASDAQ PHTN). Paul assumed the role of Finance Director for Photon Dynamics, a supplier of yield management tools to the display industry, where he was responsible for worldwide sales and support operations.
Keith Henderson
Senior Vice President, Global Operations
Keith Henderson is responsible for Xtera’s Global Operations encompassing all Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Customer Service activities.
He is a Chartered Engineer and has over 20 years experience in Operations management. His career has encompassed a wide range of responsibilities with companies ranging from venture funded start-up companies to multi-national organizations.
Previously Keith held the position of Operations Director in BAe Systems (Scotland) with responsibility for Electro Optical Systems and Sensors for Avionic applications. Prior to this, Keith had a career in STC and Alcatel specialising in the design and development of submarine fiber optic cables.
Mark DeYong
Corporate Vice President, Engineering
Mark DeYong has been with Xtera Communications since August 2004, and has management responsibility for the corporate engineering team. Mark is responsible for integrating Xtera’s global engineering team to deliver a complete next-generation optical transport and switching solution.
Prior to Xtera, Mark was founder and CTO of Intelligent Reasoning Systems, a company specializing in custom hardware and software solutions for military and commercial applications. He led the design and development of adaptive, intelligent systems for airborne weapon guidance and threat evasion, multi-DOF robotic control and multi-spectral machine vision for semi-conductor and PCBA validation. Intelligent Reasoning Systems was acquired by Photon Dynamics.
Manuel Andrade
Senior Vice President, Sales Americas
Manuel Andrade leads Xtera's sales efforts in the Americas and in the Iberian Peninsula. Mr. Andrade joined the Xtera team through the Meriton acquisition, where he was VP Sales CALA. Mr. Andrade has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications marketplace with a broad range of sales management, engineering, and software development experience. He has worked extensively throughout Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Prior to joining Xtera, Mr. Andrade was President of the Caribbean and Latin American Regional Business Unit for ECI Telecom Ltd. Before working for ECI, Mr. Andrade founded Xpandglobal Consultants LLC, specializing in International Business Development. Prior to that, Mr. Andrade was the Vice President of International Business Development for Daleen Technologies and spent several years at Westell Technologies where he was Vice President of International Operations. Mr. Andrade holds a Master's degree in Computer Science and an Electronics Engineering degree.
Gary Otake
Senior Vice President, Sales Asia-Pacific
Gary Otake joined Xtera in June 2004 after having held sales executive positions with a wide range of technology companies. Gary leads the AsiaPac sales team with responsibilities for customer relationships and sales in that region. Prior to Xtera, Gary served as Vice President of Global Sales for Extreme Devices, and as Vice President of Sales (Japan Region) for Photon Dynamics (now part of Orbotech). Gary also worked for Raychem, a $2.0 billion, multi-national materials science company, as Regional Account Executive. Prior to Raychem, Gary spent 14+ years with ESI where he held positions of Senior Account Manager, Director of Business Development as well as management and engineering positions for the Semiconductor Products Division, their most successful division with over 90% market share worldwide.
Stuart Barnes
Chief Technology Officer
Dr. Stuart Barnes is the CTO of Xtera Communications and has been with Xtera since 2007, serving in a number of roles. Prior to Xtera, Dr. Barnes was the founder and COO of Polariq, as well as founder and CTO of both Azea Networks and of ilotron in the UK. In addition, Dr. Barnes has held senior management positions at Atlas Venture, Alcatel Recherche, STC Submarine Systems and STC Cables Newport.
Dr. Barnes received his post-doctoral degree from QMC, London University, England and is Visiting Professor to School of Electronics and Computer Science, Southampton University, England. He holds over 20 patents and has published over 40 papers.
Steve Robinson
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Xtera IP Networking
Steve Robinson has over 30 years of industry experience in management, sales, service and product development in Canada, the U.S. and Asia. In 2008, Mr. Robinson joined Xtera Communications Inc., as VP Sales, APAC, with the acquisition of Meriton Networks, where he held the same position. In January 2009, Steve became GM of the Xtera IP Communications group, headquartered in Taipei, producing enterprise Link and Server Load Balancing and Deep Packet Inspection IP flow control products.
Prior to Meriton, Mr. Robinson was SVP, Avidia Networks at PairGain Technologies (acquired by ADC in 2000). At PairGain, he was responsible for the development and global product management of PairGain's DSLAM and point-to-point products. Before that, Steve spent 12 years with Newbridge Networks (now Alcatel-Lucent), where he was VP & General Manager for the Canadian Sales Region and later, VP & GM of the North Pacific Sales Region. Mr. Robinson began his career at Mitel Networks in Canada, where he worked in engineering, technical support, sales and management.
