The Xtera 5400 OTP provides multiservice transport solutions for optical networks that do not require the high add and drop capacity of a larger scale, full-featured Xtera 6400 OTP. This carrier-class system is designed to seamlessly complement 6400 OTP based optical networks. By leveraging the unified 6400/5400 GMPLS control plane and Xtera 8500 EMS, full management and maximum performance can be ensured at every node in the network regardless of its size or location. The 5400 OTP can be configured as an In-Line Amplifier (ILA) to overcome fiber span losses of up to 36 dB. In the future, the 5400 OTP will be field upgradable to support Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (OADM) applications utilizing the proven suite of 6400 OTP transponder modules.
