8600 NMS (Network Management System)

The Xtera 8600 NMS (Network Management System) is the industry’s first management system to provide a true network-wide packet-optical-transport (POTS) management solution for L0 lightpaths carrying transparent wavelength-based services, L1 sub-wavelength aggregation/switching modelling and provisioning, and L2 ethernet service and tunnel switching and aggregation - all in a single GUI-based management solution.

The simple but powerful GUI modelling used to provision lightpaths, sub-wavelength switched links (SWS), SubRate Multiplexed (SRM) Links, COS Class of Service (templates), Engineered Ethernet Services, and Ethernet Tunnel Resources, offers the operations team in the Network Operations Center a user-interface that is easy to learn, easy to use, and allows powerful troubleshooting with fast access to problem identification if required.

A consistent provisioning and trouble-shooting approach is implemented across all POTs transport interfaces supported in the Xtera Metro Products, including the unique networking capabilities of the Xtera 7200 OSP (Optical Switching Platform), Xtera 7200 OLS (Optical Line System) and 3300 OSM (Optical Services Multiplexer), Xtera 2610/2640 EAS (Ethernet Aggregation Switch).

The Xtera 8600 NMS turns the static, transport network, into a dynamic service-ready network; defining and enforcing routing based on Class of Service/Quality of Service policies, all while reducing operational expenses.

Management of transport networks supporting GigE aggregation and backhaul such as wireless backhaul, and IPTV video distribution networks, can be integrated with backhaul of DSL SONET/SDH services, through the same GUI provisioning and management approach using the 8600 NMS.
