The Nu-Wave XLS uses Raman amplification to bridge spans of over 400 km on unrepeatered systems and can be seamlessly deployed while preserving existing wet plant, such as ROPAs (Remote Optically Pumped Amplifiers). The NXT offers high capacities on long-span systems with repeaters, again without requiring changes to the existing equipment.

The Nu-Wave XLS maximizes the benefits of all-Raman amplification by integrating distributed Raman and discrete or lumped Raman amplification, and has been used to deploy the longest reach high-capacity unrepeatered system in the world.
