Cadolto uses AscenLink to achieve VPN load balancing and fault tolerance in a network with dynamic IPs
Taipei, January 06, 2008, - Xtera, the global leader in total WAN solutions, announced today that Cadolto, a famous German prefabricated building firm, has achieved reliable LAN-like Intranet to accommodate increasing demands of network resources with AscenLink, whose Tunnel Routing feature helped aggregate multiple WAN links into a virtual tunnel. Cadolto is one of the leading global prefabricated building firms with multiple offices throughout the nation. The existing network resources could no longer satisfy the rapid
business growth. The company needed a fast and reliable VPN environment to offer branch offices LAN-like access to the corporate network for file sharing and exchange. Another problem was the lack of bandwidth management. The company wanted to achieve proper bandwidth management on non-VPN traffic such as HTTP, POP3, and FTP to guarantee the performance of VPN and mission critical applications running through the network.
Kroha und Heinze GmbH, one of Xtera's partners in Germany, recommended Xtera's integrated WAN traffic management solution to Cadlto, citing reliable performance, savings offered by the product, and professional technical support from Xtera as reasons for choosing
AscenLink. After extensive testing, Cadolto became impressed with the reliable
performance of the product and decided to deploy AscenLink in its network infrastructure.
Two units of AscenLink 320 were deployed in Cadolzburg and Kroelpa to perform VPN load balancing and fault tolerance through multiple WAN links. The company deployed one more 16M/1M ADSL link coupled with the preexisting 2M leased line to establish a fast, reliable, and cost-effective VPN environment. AscenLink achieved VPN load balancing in network with dynamic IP addresses. Moreover, the built-in policy-based bandwidth management helped identify inbound and outbound traffic on a service basis and direct non-VPN traffic to the ADSL line to improve the network quality of service and performance of mission critical applications.
Mr. Volker Hofer, IT Manager and Project Leader said, "The AscenLink solution meets all of our requirements such as link aggregation to our firewall-cluster and tunnel routing over the branch sites. Since we implemented the solution recommended by our partner Kroha und Heinze GmbH, we can take advantage of a high-speed WAN for downloading. Non-VPN traffic no longer affects the performance of the VPN connection. Furthermore, we did not have to change our existing network configuration to use this solution."
